How many more?

Sabreena Smith's omission from the  2014 Commonwealth Games team was not accidental. It was a clearly calculated move put in place from the international friendlies against St Lucia and Jamaica. Or was it?

What Sabreena didn't know was that indicating her intentions to return to the Spooners Hill Netball Club for the 2015 domestic competition would be national suicide.Or was it?

To be accused as a troublemaker on PAST national teams by management is akin to being told your days as a player has come to an end.

To be told that your performances aren't what is expected when clearly it is 95% better than one of the chosen few is an indication that you are no longer needed.

In 2013, the Barbados Netball Association grossly disrespected the entire coaching panel of the Under-21 team ,weeks before a major netball tournament.

In keeping with the precedent that was set,why not do the same thing now?

The chosen twelve must be applauded for being given the opportunity to represent Barbados. The Selection Committee however should be disbanded ( if they haven't been already) for allowing themselves to be publicly humiliated as they have said ( no allegation).

As we celebrate Crop Over season, let us remember John King's popular HOW MANY MORE?

  2. How many More? Laurel Brown they don't want you either. Kizzy your name was in the hat too. When the national team went down to 6 at practice, literally on its deathbed, they sat back and waited for a miracle. That miracle came in the form of a now famous but mouthy male coach Alwyn Babb. Netball rose from the ashes. Then the parasites returned for their sport. These people don't know or would care to learn how to treat adults. The national team will never be NSC or Deighton Griffith School. If the Barbadian public think that the madness is over standby for the Commonwealth Confusion. History has recorded the obnoxious treatment meted out to players by this coaching and management combination. Good luck to the lucky 12. I really hope that you are spared the humiliation of this pass players. Yesterday was Sabreena, tomorrow maybe anyone of you. No matter the treatment, fly the flag with pride whenever you take the court. Don't fear a miracle maybe be just around the corner. Players will once again feel important and needed. They will once again become part of the process.I call on the clubs to finally rid their sport of these people. The pen and the X is mightier than the sword.

  3. I find it very distasteful the way a very skilled and dedicated player like Ms Smith was cut from the team. Having represented Barbados for over three years this act clearly stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Troublemaker my ass but know what I will await the outcome of these games. Look at Brazil all young blood no seniors no brains what happen, team can never be sold on one player alone MADNESS! You can be the best coach in the world but without peoples skill you aint NOTHING always so bold yet not a word you aint utter for your BEST PLAYER in your Division 1 team hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Good Luck next year

  4. Sometimes, it is not as easy as you may think. The first under 21 management team and selection committee got axed because the coach decided to stand behind a player who she and the selection committee felt should be in the team. To the point that they refused to announce the team from the Board. One Board member somehow convinced the others that the player from her team should be included at the expense of another. The coach and selection chair stood their ground for the team, the rest is history. We need to stop just looking at the national team as a means to see a country that our pockets cannot take us to. We need to stop looking at players' names and which club they come from. A good manager can take the worst personal attitude and transform that into passion for success after which you would never believe that was the same player. At national level it should be all about country and not club or name. We have a lot of resources in netball but we are afraid to properly utilize it. Too many of us are afraid to do and say what is right for the sport for fear they will not get a little pick to travel - and I mean administrator, management team, national players everybody frighten and in the meantime the sport is suffering.
