Let 'Buck' play !

The decision by the League Committee of the Barbados Netball Association which has prevented one netballer from playing is cause for concern.

Section 1:3 c of the 2011 Playing rules states: A club may not refuse to sign a transfer form for frivolous reasons. Any player whose club refuses to sign a transfer has the right to appeal to the BNA's League Committee.

While the above is documented ,it's unfortunate that the snail like action/approach to this matter has caused public humiliation and even tears to the netballer. It's even moreso when the powers-that-be takes a 'dont-careish' attitude to the issue.

What is so sad is that within the Board are members who have dealt with situations like this before and can/should offer advice on what steps to take to resolve this matter.

The rationale behind a player being held to 'ransom' by a club she will never represent again is beyond me.

The reason behind the non-chalant attitude of the BNA regarding a prompt decision is beyond me.

Come on BNA, make a decision. Let 'Buck' play !!

LEAVE IT ALONE !!!

More than four months after the change in leadership of the Barbados Netball Association, questions are still being asked concerning the true intentions of some of the NEW Board members regarding netball.

Recently the new jingle of some of these members is "We gine after she! She got to go!" In this instance, SHE is not the sport which these people have been sworn to uplift but none other than the former President of the local Association.

In a previous post, it was stated that some Board members including the head honcho were seeking to have this person removed from her positions on the AFNA and IFNA boards which may be like asking Lord Nelson in Trafalgar Square to tell a lonely shepherd her sheep are lost. IMPOSSIBLE !

I also can't get over the fact that on the present Board are two members of the former administration who should be more than willing to tell the newbies that nothing can be done regarding the positions mentioned above. Would it hurt to use your individuality and say you disagree?

Less people forget, any country that falls under the Americas ( or any other) region can nominate and ultimately second an individual from another territory for a position on whichever Board. HINT HINT !!!

We should also hope that the individuals who have launched this campaign to discredit have taken the time to fully understand exactly what they are doing to the credibility of Barbados and the global implications which may come from any negativity.

Leave it ALONE! Missbankerlady,Miss We Tekking back we Sport,Mrhorseracingenthusiast and others!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave it ALONE !

Not a &@$#^~ cent !

It's about time that the individual with the self proclaimed title of "Miss We Tekking back we Sport" realise that whatever clout she thought she might've had in local netball ( outside her workplace) is no more.

At a major sporting event recently, this shepherd of not a single flock was adamant that the former head of the local Association won't be getting a &@$#~ cent from the Barbados Netball Association for her upcoming trip.

What is interesting is that the newly crowned queen of the damned is in NO position to make such a decision ( or is she?) but can be so BOLD and LOUD with her comments. Does she know something that the general membership doesn't ?

Ummm, can someone tell her that the the score at the end of the first quarter is 0-2?

Special meeting planned

Let me make it abundantly clear that the Spooners Hill Netball Club does NOT support any attempts to rid the former President of the Barbados Netball Association from her post on the regional ( AFNA) Committee.

In one of the most insane 'decisions' ever made by a Board, it seems as though efforts are being made to do so with the support of the general membership. Or so it is being said.

Unless I'm missing something, the former President was elected at the 2010 AFNA Congress to the position of Secretary at the AFNA Championships in St.Lucia ( July 2010).

A position she will hold for a period of FOUR years !!!!!!!!!!

Here's the question: Can this position be revoked via a notice of non support?

It will be revealed at the SPECIAL MEETING to be summoned soon.

Wellllllllllllll,going forward .............

It's interesting how some people will try to marginalise the achievements of others to justify their stupid decisions.

At the recently held preseason meeting of the Barbados Netball Association, a new and 'innovative' format to the opening of the 2011 domestic season was revealed. As outlined by the Chairperson of the League Committee, there would be NO parade of teams but a single individual who would 'SHOWCASE' ( his word) the teams' uniform.

The Chairperson also highlighted the fact that the ceremony would take the form of a gala and that there would be a panel of judges to chose the best uniform on PARADE ( again his word).

Does anyone see the irony of the words? To SHOWCASE a uniform it has to be PARADED yet an entire sponsored club will not be allowed to do so. Pure LAVATORY MATTER !!!

In attendance at said meeting were the majority stakeholders of the game who surprisingly never questioned the repercussions to this 'innovative approach' to the opening of the season. However in a flurry of emails that have been in cyberspace, several clubs are now seeking clarification.

One such stakeholder boldly declared that she is hoping the season will be "more structured and professional this year than it has been over the last few years". What she has obviously forgotten is that SHE had been a part of whatever failure there was.

In one of the many replies to these queries, the BNA has promised an "effective delivery of an opening ceremony" and has 'allowed' an extra netballer to 'showcase' their respective uniforms behind the banner of the teams' sponsor ( the banners are to be held by the U-16 netballers).

"Wellllllllllllllll, going forward, we hope that clubs will embrace the idea and they would see this as OUR attempt to do things the right way."

It will be revealed on Sunday March 13th in a school hall.

It still goes on !

There's never a dull moment in netball. Beneath the surface of all this 'calmness', something may be happening. As thought provoking as it seems to whomever reads this, there is a reason for everything in life.

The following article was taken from the Midweek Nation ( December 29th 2010).

"There is a new board and they have my support. I wish them well [but] I wouldn’t have any involvement at the local level,” said Gibson, who also serves as the secretary of the Americas Federation of Netball Associations.

“You need to give the board time to do what they have to do, [so] I don’t think that I should be hovering in the background.

“If there are any questions they wish to ask I am preparing some documents to give each of the board members so they have something going forward, but it’s up to them to determine whether or not they want to use them,” she added.

Clearly some people didn't read this !
