So Barbados has convincingly won the regional U-16 Championships and  the accolades have been meted out to Coach Julie Phillips and her management team as well as the girls who made us proud.

Congratulations have been extended from all facets of netball with the exception of one individual. Guess who?

Imelda Marcos, wherever you are, this is a national team and you have a responsibility.. Like it or not, supportive or  not, you are at the helm.

Shonica stars in win

Team Barbados this morning recorded their second win comprehensively defeating Dominica by a 50 goal margin ( 57-7) at the 2012 Under 16 CNA Championships being played in St.Vincent and the Grenadines.

The starting seven for Barbados was : Shonica Wharton(GS),Sheniqua Thomas(GA),Tia Jones(WA),Najee Moore(C),Rashida Chase(WD), Sade Browne(GD,c) and Ashley Marshall (GK).

Displaying a relatively high level of netball which was obviously needed as goals scored is important, the youthful netballers were all over their Dominican counterparts from the first center pass.

Wharton proved a handful for the defenders, catching and scoring as though it was a mere practice match for her while her partner Thomas provided the impetus needed for the win. At the other end of the court, captain Browne of the famous netballing family and junior volleyball standout Marshall were all over the Dominican shooters with timely intercepts and rebounds.

Knowing that her girls have the host country to play tonight, Coach Phillips made some timely changes bringing Shakaila Davis (GS), Nikela Jordan (GA),Leah Deane(GK) and Damara Dawson(C) into the game and switching Marshall to goal defense.

With the changes made, the Bajan lasses set about to continue the dismantling of their obviously overplayed opponents moving the ball with quick fluidity and precision passing for the easiest of goals.

Next up for Barbados is the host country in what is expected to be a tougher challenge before meeting Antigua and Barbuda tomorrow.

Shooting stats :

BARBADOS

Shonica Wharton - 38/45
Sheniqua Thomas - 3/5
Nikala Jordan - 5/6
Shakaila Davis - 11/12

Another one 'quits'

Yet another talented netballer has decided to call it 'quit's with the sport at the national level while the present national coach is at the helm.

"She like she mad!" " I aint gine back dere and I tell she check me next year!" " She tell me dat this aint d team dat gine b dere in July and dat it only pick 2 go England" stated the unlucky netballer.

" I dun wid nationals cuz I aint gine round she!"

Maybe the BNA needs to rescind the decision to use autocracy instead of democracy.
