I remember when :

Imelda Marcos of netball knew the sport was DEAD. Maybe she was clairvoyant all those years ago.

It was the norm for any 'secret' to be shared with those not in the know by Imelda.

The sexuality of a present board member was always her business.

She knew that one of the remaining trio surrounded herself with 'nuff' gay men.

Cash was as good as carry.

Barbados couldn't go to Jamaica but accept an invite to England.

Being a President meant being a leader.

Being a President didn't mean bad talking and name calling.

Honesty and integrity went hand in hand.

Another reason for a vote of NOconfidence.

Vote against Imelda !!!

It's about time that the netball clubs in Barbados take a stand against the Board of the Barbados Netball Association and the nonsensical decisions they are making.

In less than a year, all the hard work that was done on the international stage to get Barbados to some level of respectability has been singlehandedly and systematically destroyed by an ingrate to the sport.

As the second in command has publicly declared, some people want to lead but don't have the least bit of leadership ability.

Tuesday December 13th should be doomsday for this board but that can only happen if support for a vote of NO CONFIDENCE is given.

Come on clubs. Let the Imelda Marcos of netball know that enough is enough. Votes gave her power and votes can take it back.

Leave the damn girl alone !!!!!!!!!

Recently an incident occured during the 2011 Barbados Workers' Union competition involving Jennifer Seale of BRC Welch Rovers and Makeba Clarke of Brittons Hill which was dealt with at a Disciplinary meeting by the organisers of said competition. Also present at the meeting was the President of the Barbados Netball Association.

Less than one month after this meeting, the two remaining board members( Secretary and VP) are allegedly now telling one of the players that she owes the BNA an apology for the incident which occured. Utter nonsense !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remarkably the VP has also allegedly said that she is a national player and should've known better and that he will collect the letter from her.

In this earlier post, I said that the President of the BNA was at the meeting and therefore is aware of whatever penalty was meted out to both players. To realise now that this level of victimisation is happening speaks volumes about the board.

It's seems as though the parameters of some people are lost in the decisions made because earlier in said competition, the said VP informed the POOR that she couldn't PLAY in a certain skirt. According to him, it was the BNA's colours. Duhhhhh!!!!!!!

Maybe it's best that the BNA leave this player alone and concentrate on issues of national importance.

More questions than answers.........AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!

A very wise woman once said that locally, the sport of netball offers nothing but injuries and a bad reputation.

Another one has even dared to say that netballers are fickle-minded, hate being being seen as challengers to authority and would allow anything to happen just so they can play the game.

With that being said, maybe the time is right for ALL netballers to openly question the goings on within the Barbados Netball Association and demand some answers.

Doesn't anybody want to know why the Treasurer has suddenly resigned less than a year into her taking up the position and just a few months after she was very vocal at the Special Meeting summoned by the clubs? Hmmmmm!

Doesn't anybody want to know why one of the senior board members think that the former power trio ( President,Secretary and Treasurer) in the last Administration should be at the helm of the Association? Hmmmm!

Doesn't anybody want to know why there is a persistent rumour within netball that another board member is contemplating resigning before December 13th? Hmmmm !

Doesn't anybody want to know why at the Special Meeting mentioned above when a former national player openly criticised and scandalised the senior national team, NONE of the board members asked her to apologise AFTER the then coach had informed them that they should? Hmmmm !

Why is it that the ENTIRE delegation from Barbados who were in Singapore for the 2011 World Netball Championships, show such a disinterest in the national team that they would not support them?

In an interview with the former coach Alwyn Babb which was carried in the Midweek Nation ( November 24) , he stated,"The day we had a crucial match against Fiji- at that time they were the No.7 in the world- we had only two Barbadian supporters,Octavia Gibson and Daisy Browne. All the other official members of the Barbadian contingent did not attend that match and we lost that game by one goal.At that point we had now moved to No.9."

Why were these people there in the first place if they didn't have the team at heart and the country by extension?

The lack of support was even more glaring when the said senior team returned to Barbados and no one from the Barbados Netball Association met the team on their arrival. Ironically the same delegation including the President had also returned to Barbados on the same flight. Hmmmm!!

What's equally sad is that the Barbados Netball Association has not even sent a simple THANK YOU note to Miss Lydia Bishop for all her years of representing Barbados.

How moronic can that be!!! Hmmmm !

It's about time we had some answers.

WHA GINE ON ??

What happens when board members start talking? We start LISTENING!!!

One very 'powerful' member of the present board of the Barbados Netball Association has recently declared discontent and a lack of confidence in the person who is leading the other sheep to stray.

What was more surprising was the 'endorsing' of the power TRIO of the last administration ( President, Secretary and Treasurer) and their overall work ethic and attitudes in getting things done. "If dem did here we wud get tings done".

Stopping short of saying the new head honcho is a failure, it was further said that "people only want positions but dem aint know wha to do when dem get it".

All this came one day after the resignation of the Treasurer who ironically was LESS than a year into her installation in that position.

And the cookies have started to crumble !!

Failed !!!!!!

"Does anyone know why it is that to date no correspondence has been sent to any of the member clubs of the Barbados Netball Association informing them of the upcoming General meeting as well as seeking candidates for the position of other Directors for the Board?"

To further solidify the inadequacy of this Board, the International Federation of Netball Associations ( IFNA) has recently amended some playing rules which are scheduled to be implemented in January 2012.

As yet, these amendments haven't been circulated to the member clubs which may bring further chaos and confusion to those clubs that have struggled and are still struggling with the ones being used now.

What is surprising though, is that there is an endless supply of emails from an affiliate of the Barbados Netball Association almost daily.... this being the Barbados Association of Netball Umpires ( BANU).

The BANU has found it necessary to inform it's members of anything and everything important to umpiring which shows good leadership and a sound Committee.

This therefore begs the question: Does this mean that the executive of the BANU can take over the reigns of local netball from the Board of the BNA because they ( BNA) have again failed to live up to the mandate?

OOPS!!!!! What mandate ?????

Stupid is as stupid does !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The domestic netball season ended several months ago and to date, sourcing information on anything netball from any Board member of the Barbados Netball Association is like asking the statue of Nelson who his wife is,predicting when the West Indies cricket team will be number one again or getting that much needed call from a loan's officer.

Less than one year into their tenure ,they have done the obvious and will soon be performing the burial rites to the game of netball locally, regionally and internationally.

Maybe it has happened locally already due to the lack of correspondence sent or given to clubs, crass attitudes towards said clubs and their holier-than-thou approach taken. Internationally, the netball world was given a first hand idea of the ignorance which governs the game here when at a meeting held at the 2011 World Netball Championships, the utterly inept leader of the pack has allegedly said on the floor that Barbados is looking for a FOREIGN coach.

Remember this would've taken place DURING the Championships where Team Barbados was playing under the guidance of Alwyn Babb.

It doesn't take an Einstein to know that the pack leader has never supported Mr.Babb as coach. She has openly said such BEFORE she became leader. Some measures were also put in place which could've brought about immense failure by the 2011 senior national team.

This alleged announcement to the WORLD begs several questions which hopefully will be answered at the upcoming General Meeting ( whenever it is summoned).

1- Wasn't there a coach already in place when this STUPID announcement was made?
2 - Was this announcement the Board's way of saying to Mr.Babb that he isn't needed?
3 - Didn't she care about the image of the COUNTRY on the global scene?
4- Was it a decision made based on greed, hate, spite, ignorance or just downright stupidity?

I've been fortunate to have first hand knowledge of the machinations under which the Barbados Netball Association has functioned. I've never been more concerned for the sport than now knowing that at any given turn, AUTOCRACY will raise it's head and DEMOCRACY will be replaced.

The burial rites might've been performed but just like in Hollywood where no one ever dies...... we can do it here too.

Maybe now is the time for the much talked about NO-CONFIDENCE vote.

Successful odds!

It aint the formula that Banks Spurs had a few years ago when they won the Division 1 netball crown but it's the Midas magic that seems to follow me around.

In Barbados, there was success with Harrison College, the Lester Vaughan School, Spooners Hill ( multiple), BWU and NCC. Now that magic has followed me here to Canada. Again !!

In 2005 it was Montreal,Quebec and now it's Toronto,Ontario where I'm helping the Wendell Greenidge ( yeah my brother) coached Twilight Netball Club to create a netball dynasty here in this province.

Success breeds success and as demonstrated by the victorious NCC team in this year's BNA Premier division, total commitment is paramount to winning and like Spooners Hill in the past, it doesn't take a galaxy of stars to win.

Unlike some of the big name coaches who are ultimately arm-chair ones, it's not about ONLY winning with the elitest of the 'elite'.

With Spooners Hill, we were able to overcome obstacles with a supporting cast for the newly retired Lydia Bishop which included former nationals Paula Greaves and Denise Forde, ace goal attack Renee Rudder, Alicia Jemmott, stalwart Janice Stoute,Joanne Soleyn, Rhonda Walcott, Sandra Forde and numerous others.

Twilight has carved a niche for themselves in netball in Ontario and they have done so against great odds. TNC is a club nobody likes ( do I hear SH?) but plays the most incredible style of netball in this province.

Nobody said it would be an easy road to the top and they never said how to get there.

Idiots shouldn't play sports and I've coached plenty of intelligent people. Idiots shouldn't COACH either, they never know how to win !

Success will follow success despite all odds !

No to SVG !!!!

Placing 11th at the 2011 Mission Food World Netball Championships is apparently fodder for the leader of the pack to accept an invitation for Barbados to play against a team ranked more than two places lower than Barbados.

It makes zero sense to even the smallest of brains that something as assinine as this would be considered. Do we stand to gain anything from playing against any team ranked lower than we are?

Clearly this is another attempt to discredit the work of the senior team's management and justify any axing that may happen. It is also the work of a sinister and openly deranged person ( or persons) whose recent public outbursts to vilify and bad talk are showing some cracks in the armour.

It's a NO TO SVG and anything lower !!

Thanks !!

National shooting ace Lydia Bishop announced her retirement from international netball recently after fourteen ( 14 ) years of sterling service to Barbados.

In doing so, Lydia has created a void in the shooting circle that will be hard to replace for a long time.

Her versatility and no nonsense approach to the game locally, regionally and internationally made the best defenses crumble when opposing her.

As one of her club coaches for the past 11 years, it has been a huge reward watching her play at all levels of the game both locally ( Spooners Hill ) and in Toronto ( Twilight Netball Club).

Many people didn't know the Lydia I did and made unjust assumptions to her character. All this made her stronger in her resolve to be better at what she did. This involved numerous lengthy discussions and countless hours of watching netball games on DVDs.

Thankfully I am glad to have been able work with her prior to the 2011 World Netball Championships as I knew it was going to be her last on the international stage for Barbados. It was also a pleasure reading newspapers from all across the world about the performances of Lydia at this tournament and the terror she was to the defenses.

Thanks Lydia from me to you !!

Not another nightmare !

What started as a dream and became a reality may soon become a nightmare for netball in Barbados all over again.

Word has it that the Board of the Barbados Netball Association is seeking to replace the head coach and ALL his assistants who were instrumental in giving Barbados the recognition it has been receiving recently. Hopefully they will remember that applications have to be submitted and interviews conducted!!

The fact that the national team was able to finish 11th at the 2011 Mission Foods World Netball Championships without any international competition and under dire circumstances speaks of the overall dedication and commitment of Mr Babb and his coaching staff.

In 2010,when Mr Babb took over the mantle as head coach of the senior national team, our global ranking was 13th and heading fast for the doldrums. Players were frustrated and the people ( coaches et al) in charge were devoid of any clear vision as to how they would get us to some level of respectability.

It is therefore ironic that some members of the Board would seek to show the level of ignorance expected of them and destroy what is a successful formula. Or is it??

One more reason why this Board has to go. Do we hear no-confidence ??

Burial rites !

The recent special meeting which was summoned by some netball clubs seeking answers did not reveal anything other than the fact that the Board of the Barbados Netball Association is not ready to lead and should exit stage one.

What was bothersome was the continuous answer , " That is not on the agenda and I will get back to you on that" in a voice filled with defiance and anger by the leader of the squadron. HELLOOOO !!!

How can seven individuals come to a meeting of such magnitude and NONE of them seemed ready? HELLOOOO !!!

It is unfortunate that amongst these individuals are true workers who based on the positions held are going to be in the sight of many harsh criticisms. However this is the case of Paul paying for all.

The camel that has seemingly broken the back of the camel or camels is the non-chalant attitude exhibited by the leader of the squadron locally and in Singapore. HELLOOOO !!!

The national team didn't belong to any individual, it was a representation of the entire country of Barbados. It was in poor taste therefore that the head of the BNA, couldn't find it necessary to show some support for the team when she was there. Then the Vice President is showing more STUPIDITY by asking a parent why they would even want to support the team by greeting them. NONSENSE !!!!!

The 2011 netball season has ended for Barbados locally, regionally and internationally. The senior team is now ranked ninth (9th as I write) and have been commended for outstanding performances.

Now is the time to say to the Board of the Barbados Netball Association, your time is up!

The special meeting was phase 1, the no confidence is phase 2 .

Congrats Team Barbados!

It wasn't the position expected but it was a major improvement from Auckland 2007. Team Barbados under the guidance of the hugely popular coach Alwyn Babb ( check Netball England website), improved from 13th place in 2007 to 11th in 2011.

Interesting stuff !

CONGRATULATIONS to :

Kizzy Marville - captain
Latonia Blackman - vice captain
Lydia Bishop
Laurel Browne
Sabrina Browne
Samantha Browne
Damishe Croney
Faye Sealy
Lisa Puckerin
Shonette Bruce
Sabreena Smith
Nikita Piggott

Alwyn Babb - Coach

Talking garbage !

From the time I came into the sport of netball, some clubs comprising the self-proclaimed inventors of the game have always sent representation to whatever meeting was being summoned by the Barbados Netball Association ( BNA).

Last night ( 09-10-11) at the special meeting which was held at the Barbados Olympic Association's ( BOA) office, it was clear that the representative from one such club ( Barbados Lumber Company UAC) had an issue with the players of the senior national team.

Waiting for absolute silence, this individual loudly proclaimed her DISTASTE,DISGUST and total DISREGARD for the team which she opined has caused the BNA and the local netball fraternity nothing but sorrow. Referring to the team as THAT GROUP, she further added that she was not and will never support the team and that if she was in a position to assist said team, she wouldn't.

BLUE,yellow,black vs GREEN,yellow,black.....

The senior netball team or any national team selected is a representative of ALL netballers living within whichever country the sport is being played, despite what people may think. It was shocking to hear it being said by this individual that based on the general perception of the team,it CANNOT and WILL NOT represent her. Maybe if one of the colours were GREEN instead of BLUE, that would make a difference!!!!!

While her opinion clearly matters to her and the small supporting cast which was seated to her left( COW Rangers), it was shocking that none of the seven member Board who has silently supported what was said, never asked for THE APOLOGY which was requested by the senior coach or the general membership in attendance.

It is ridiculous to think that these same individuals who in times past were seen as go-to persons by these said netballers, are now trashing them.

What is apparent is that the 2011 senior national team is on it's own and maybe have been for the past few months. It's also ironic that the lone national team which can bring any recognition to our country, does not and will never get the total support from it's governing body.

Maybe the garbage spewed out last night was said by one but the thought process was there for many.

Well done girls !

Congrats to Team Lester Vaughan for the second place finish in the 2011 U-15 competition of the BSSNL competition. Better luck in the U-19!

Lester Vaughan to the FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't the script that was written but again the writers were proven wrong when The Lester Vaughan School upended the more favoured and defending champions Combermere School in one of two semi-finals played today ( June 2) in the U-15 division of the Barbados Secondary Schools' Netball League ( BSSNL) at the Netball Stadium.

Playing before their principal whose presence brought a much needed lift in their intensity, the girls from Cane Garden never allowed their opponents to settle. With head coach of the senior national team Alwyn Babb in the stand ( before heading to the airport for Trinidad), Adrian Mapp on the bench and YOURS TRULY on the field, Team LVS romped to a five goal ( 23-18)win.

The lineup of Team LVS : GS - Victoria McMillan, GA- Tachaina Young,WA- Halicha Gilkes,C-Danisha Burke,WD-Mariah Leacock,GD-Brandy Grosvenor,GK-Lieann Connell-Forde. Reserve was Tamara Trotman.

Team LVS' opponent in the finals will be The Alleyne School who defeated them in a zonal game earlier.

Well done girls! They said it won't be done !

Trinidad bound !

The Barbados Netball Association has FINALLY announced the names of the twelve netballers to represent Barbados in a goodwill series against longtime Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago.

Returning to the team after being away for several years is Pine Hill St.Barnabas defender Shonette Bruce nee Azore who brings height and aggression to the defensive circle. The full contingent is :

Kizzy Marville ( captain), Latonia Blackman( vice captain), Lydia Bishop,Laurel Browne,Samantha Browne,Sabrina Browne,Nadia Blackman,Faye Sealy,Sabreena Smith,Nikita Piggott,Chekirah Shepherd and Shonette Bruce.

Head coach Alwyn Babb has a new manager with former Assistant coach Marcia Oxley assuming this role after the recent dismissal of Mrs Maureen Shepherd. Returning to assist is Jackie Forde-Brome. Team physio is Alicia Brewster.

Team Barbados will play three games beginning tomorrow ( June 3), Saturday ( June 4) and concludes with the final game on Sunday ( June 5) at the Jean Pierre Complex against a Trinidad team still smarting from a one goal loss to Barbados at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Let's prove it wasn't a fluke !

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

I know for a fact that ...................

1 - The PULSE of the BNA doesn't know anything that is going on within the Association as is evidenced by the correspondence which doesn't have her name.

2 - The hierarchy is fooling and misleading the clubs GOING FORWARD.

3 - That the firing of the former Manager was personal and had nothing to do with her managerial skills.

4 - That a Board member has openly expressed disgust with the goings on within the Board.

5 - That when I AM IN CHARGE I WILL TAKE WHAT IS OFFERED !!!!!!!!!!!

When 17 became 15..............

FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Board of the Barbados Netball Asssociation tonight( 17-05-11) delivered one of the most DISRESPECTFUL and CALCULATED moves in recent netball by unceremoniously firing the Manager of the senior netball team less than two months before the World Netball Championships.

Immediately after the training session had ended, the Vice-President of the Board walked over and in the presence of players and management, handed the former Manager a letter signed by the President of the Association ( guess there is no Secretary) while saying, "Juanita asked me to give this to you!"

The letter notified the former Manager that the Board had met and decided to terminate her services as Manager with immediate effect due to her disruptive behaviour. HUHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

None of the seven persons who comprise the Board has ever made it their business to come around the team when they were in training to interact with not only the team but the Manager or management. To say she has been disruptive is nothing more than an ABSOLUTE LIE !!!!!!!! Then again this Board is full of lies and LAVATORY MATTER !

With this utterly RIDICULOUS and CALCULATED move, a hugely successful management team has been disbanded. What the netball fraternity doesn't know is that when the present Board took office, a decision was made by them to get rid of the assistant coaches ( which they have silently done) as well as the former Manager.

With three out of four gone, the next person to go is the COACH. However without waiting the head coach RESIGNED which paves the way for the President to fulfill all the promises she made to the people who are the inventors of the game.

Several questions now need to be asked:
1 - Who is the replacement as Manager?
2 - Will there be more than one Assistant Coach? This one will be interesting!
3- Who takes over as Coach? More interest !!!!

Not only has the Board of the Barbados Netball Association shown scant disrespect to a woman of principle but to the players who have been diligent in the task as hand making a decision FOR them and not CONSULTING them at ANY time.

To those who applied for the vacant positions, YOU CAN HAVE THEM NOW because it seems apparent that the Barbados Netball Association is just satisfied with going to the WNC simply to save face and a two year ban from any netball and NOT improving globally.

To the Board of the Barbados Netball Association, A PROMISE IS A COMFORT TO A FOOL AND YOU HAVE MADE MANY PROMISES TO MANY FOOLS.

Such a pity!

Dear Miss Southpaw Goal Shooter,

Not only are you a NON-ENTITY in my books but your thoughts and opinions doesn't matter. The fact that you took the time to make a call against my umpiring garments also shows your malicious and selfishness.

Not only was it NOT your business what I wore but what my friends and I do shouldn't be a concern to you either.

Be mindful of the fact that you aren't the only bearer of NEWS.

You can also KICK ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such a pity !!

Monday, April 4, 2011

Mind your damn business !!!

Dear Miss Builder of Netball,

Your malicious prying of why I was wearing all black tonight ( 04-04-11) when umpiring was certainly none of your business.

I can distinctly recall that you are a SELECTOR and NOT an officer of the Barbados Association of Netball Umpires ( BANU).

According to you in your ranting," Look wha happen to d game I build?" As far as I am aware, careers, etc are built so if this all that you can claim.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Furthermore, you really need to know the rules of the game you built. In the IFNA Protocol for Umpires , revised in August 2010, section 1.2 reads : An umpire's clothing including any colour trim, shall be DISTINCT from the playing uniforms of the competing teams and PREFERABLY white or cream in colours ( Rule 3 .1:5).

Look at the two words bolded Miss Builder and understand what they mean. Or can you????

By the way, stop complaining about me and complain TO me.

Mind your damn business !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Totally unfair !

The lack of professionalism displayed last night at the Netball Stadium towards Julie Phillips was so wrong in so many ways it's frightening.

Scheduled to umpire in the Senior Knock-out finals ( COW Rangers v NCC Ballers) as indicated on her umpiring fixture and highlighted, Miss Phillips turned up and informed the venue/court official that she was available for 'duty' only to be told she was just the reserve? NONSENSE !!!!!

The Barbados Netball Association and it's League Committee should be more tolerant and respectful of people's feelings. This situation should never had occured and wouldn't have if the Executive had told Miss Phillips before her arrival at the Stadium that her services weren't required.

Subtly ONE officer of the League Committee had indirectly said that she wasn't the 'fixtured' umpire and when asked for verification, said she wasn't sure.

It was unfortunate that all this played out ( pun intended) in front of a relatively large crowd of spectators who can never and will never feel the emabarrassment and humiliation of Miss Phillips.

TOTALLY UNFAIR !!!!

Let 'Buck' play !

The decision by the League Committee of the Barbados Netball Association which has prevented one netballer from playing is cause for concern.

Section 1:3 c of the 2011 Playing rules states: A club may not refuse to sign a transfer form for frivolous reasons. Any player whose club refuses to sign a transfer has the right to appeal to the BNA's League Committee.

While the above is documented ,it's unfortunate that the snail like action/approach to this matter has caused public humiliation and even tears to the netballer. It's even moreso when the powers-that-be takes a 'dont-careish' attitude to the issue.

What is so sad is that within the Board are members who have dealt with situations like this before and can/should offer advice on what steps to take to resolve this matter.

The rationale behind a player being held to 'ransom' by a club she will never represent again is beyond me.

The reason behind the non-chalant attitude of the BNA regarding a prompt decision is beyond me.

Come on BNA, make a decision. Let 'Buck' play !!

LEAVE IT ALONE !!!

More than four months after the change in leadership of the Barbados Netball Association, questions are still being asked concerning the true intentions of some of the NEW Board members regarding netball.

Recently the new jingle of some of these members is "We gine after she! She got to go!" In this instance, SHE is not the sport which these people have been sworn to uplift but none other than the former President of the local Association.

In a previous post, it was stated that some Board members including the head honcho were seeking to have this person removed from her positions on the AFNA and IFNA boards which may be like asking Lord Nelson in Trafalgar Square to tell a lonely shepherd her sheep are lost. IMPOSSIBLE !

I also can't get over the fact that on the present Board are two members of the former administration who should be more than willing to tell the newbies that nothing can be done regarding the positions mentioned above. Would it hurt to use your individuality and say you disagree?

Less people forget, any country that falls under the Americas ( or any other) region can nominate and ultimately second an individual from another territory for a position on whichever Board. HINT HINT !!!

We should also hope that the individuals who have launched this campaign to discredit have taken the time to fully understand exactly what they are doing to the credibility of Barbados and the global implications which may come from any negativity.

Leave it ALONE! Missbankerlady,Miss We Tekking back we Sport,Mrhorseracingenthusiast and others!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave it ALONE !

Monday, March 7, 2011

Not a &@$#^~ cent !

It's about time that the individual with the self proclaimed title of "Miss We Tekking back we Sport" realise that whatever clout she thought she might've had in local netball ( outside her workplace) is no more.

At a major sporting event recently, this shepherd of not a single flock was adamant that the former head of the local Association won't be getting a &@$#~ cent from the Barbados Netball Association for her upcoming trip.

What is interesting is that the newly crowned queen of the damned is in NO position to make such a decision ( or is she?) but can be so BOLD and LOUD with her comments. Does she know something that the general membership doesn't ?

Ummm, can someone tell her that the the score at the end of the first quarter is 0-2?

Special meeting planned

Let me make it abundantly clear that the Spooners Hill Netball Club does NOT support any attempts to rid the former President of the Barbados Netball Association from her post on the regional ( AFNA) Committee.

In one of the most insane 'decisions' ever made by a Board, it seems as though efforts are being made to do so with the support of the general membership. Or so it is being said.

Unless I'm missing something, the former President was elected at the 2010 AFNA Congress to the position of Secretary at the AFNA Championships in St.Lucia ( July 2010).

A position she will hold for a period of FOUR years !!!!!!!!!!

Here's the question: Can this position be revoked via a notice of non support?

It will be revealed at the SPECIAL MEETING to be summoned soon.

Wellllllllllllll,going forward .............

It's interesting how some people will try to marginalise the achievements of others to justify their stupid decisions.

At the recently held preseason meeting of the Barbados Netball Association, a new and 'innovative' format to the opening of the 2011 domestic season was revealed. As outlined by the Chairperson of the League Committee, there would be NO parade of teams but a single individual who would 'SHOWCASE' ( his word) the teams' uniform.

The Chairperson also highlighted the fact that the ceremony would take the form of a gala and that there would be a panel of judges to chose the best uniform on PARADE ( again his word).

Does anyone see the irony of the words? To SHOWCASE a uniform it has to be PARADED yet an entire sponsored club will not be allowed to do so. Pure LAVATORY MATTER !!!

In attendance at said meeting were the majority stakeholders of the game who surprisingly never questioned the repercussions to this 'innovative approach' to the opening of the season. However in a flurry of emails that have been in cyberspace, several clubs are now seeking clarification.

One such stakeholder boldly declared that she is hoping the season will be "more structured and professional this year than it has been over the last few years". What she has obviously forgotten is that SHE had been a part of whatever failure there was.

In one of the many replies to these queries, the BNA has promised an "effective delivery of an opening ceremony" and has 'allowed' an extra netballer to 'showcase' their respective uniforms behind the banner of the teams' sponsor ( the banners are to be held by the U-16 netballers).

"Wellllllllllllllll, going forward, we hope that clubs will embrace the idea and they would see this as OUR attempt to do things the right way."

It will be revealed on Sunday March 13th in a school hall.

It still goes on !

There's never a dull moment in netball. Beneath the surface of all this 'calmness', something may be happening. As thought provoking as it seems to whomever reads this, there is a reason for everything in life.

The following article was taken from the Midweek Nation ( December 29th 2010).

"There is a new board and they have my support. I wish them well [but] I wouldn’t have any involvement at the local level,” said Gibson, who also serves as the secretary of the Americas Federation of Netball Associations.

“You need to give the board time to do what they have to do, [so] I don’t think that I should be hovering in the background.

“If there are any questions they wish to ask I am preparing some documents to give each of the board members so they have something going forward, but it’s up to them to determine whether or not they want to use them,” she added.

Clearly some people didn't read this !

When a promise is a comfort to a FOOL

Whatever is written on this blog will never be a lie. . That being said when situations occur right before my eyes I will more than likely be getting carpel tunnel.

PROMISES

The new Board of the Barbados Netball Association was chosen through a democratic process with the merging of the two netball 'powerhouses' and their 'affiliates' in the sport. The Board has the right to make decisions - good, bad or unpopular.

After numerous promises were made prior to the AGM on December 16th 2010, the promisees are waiting in the wings with bated breath to see if the promiser will deliver. At stake is the highly sought after head coaching position of the senior national team which Miss Tekking Back She Sport believe is hers.

What is even more devastating to her and these people is that there are stories being carried in the media ( Barbados Advocate and CBC TV) stating the NEED for Alwyn Babb's return to the head coaching position.

Are there leaks already ??

Now the question that has surfaced is who is the culprit(s) giving stories to the media which may very well be true.

Remember readers I did say in my opening paragraph that I won't be telling any LIES on this blog ! Now look at the high lighted question again and ..............................hmmmmmmm !

Interesting !!

Isn't it ironic that the two vacant posts within the Barbados Netball Association are now filled and unlike in the past the general body was NOT given the opportunity to see the resumes of the applicants ?

Section 5:1.2 (a)(ii) of the Constitution reads:

ALL resumes SHALL be circulated to the membership prior to the date ...............

None were circulated and no hard copies were distributed at the meeting.

Already this is a case of things that make you go HMMMM !

May 'progress' continue........... Hmmmm !

I've often been told that when an animal has a young offspring, it quickly goes on the defensive.

It was no surprise therefore that when I read the Nation newspaper online ( 10-01-11) there was an article from the new Board of the BNA which is utterly defensive-minded.

"Back in 2008, there was a lot of disunity within the Barbados Netball Association. . . We had vice-presidents resigning from the board, and I called a meeting of the concerned clubs [and] I got a lot of support there."

Am I reading that in 2008 vice-presidents ( PLURAL) resigned?Maybe they did and that was the reason for the no-show of any . Hmmmm!

In July of 2008 a special meeting of some clubs WAS organized and summoned by the individual quoted above after SHE felt that SOME of them were disgruntled with the way the local competition was being run by the Board of the Barbados Netball Association of which SHE was a member. Hmmmm !

The article also speaks of being made to feel marginalised. How can the coordinator of any national team in ANY sport be made to feel like they are marginalised as well as to feel like they are a "middleman"? Shouldn't the person with such a portfolio be required to work closely with all national teams? Hmmmm!

“I tried working with the team but somehow along the way it seemed as though I was pushed on the wayside. I was not given the opportunity to get very close to the senior team,” explained the one-time Rangers player. “I tried on numerous occasions to have meetings with the senior management, as is the case with any national team coordinator, but I was never, ever given the opportunity to have a meeting.” DOES THIS SOUND TRUE ?? LIES AND MORE LIES !!

“In case there isn’t one major sponsor as in previous years, we’re hoping that at least we can gain some sponsorship per division and have the companies come on board, because obviously the premier sport for women in Barbados [is netball]."

Does this mean as previous as fifteen years ago when according to another blogger the BNA had its last sponsor?

A wise man once said you can get away from a thief but not from a liar ! Hmmm !

Player/coach

The new Board of the Barbados Netball Association has started the new year with a major surprise.

It is understood that one of the senior national players has been given the mandate of getting training sessions started after she had a telephone call with the new chief of the Organization.

Does this mean that we will be trying the COACH/PLAYER route this year? Does it mean that there will be no senior coach this year and maybe not in the next two years ? Does it mean that the Board shows no faith in any local coaches?

DOES IT MEAN THAT THE LAST COACH IS NOT NEEDED ANYMORE FOR A MEETING??

SHOCKING!!!

Why would the Board give this particular individual the task of calling players when it was known that the senior team had co-captains and a management team even if the head coach had resigned?

Happy New Year!
