Not Spooners Hill!!!!!

" Spooners Hill is no club for anybody to play".

With those words the gargoyle spoke and minnows buckled. For approximately three months one of the most promising netballers was being coached by Alwyn Babb and taught the fundamentals of goal shooting by myself.

 In one loud roar....that changed!!

"If u wanna make a national team, u can't play for Spooners Hill".
The gargoyle roared again and the player heeded to the loudness.

Now the battle lines have been drawn and something will happen.

Anybody in local netball knows that the Spooners Hill Netball Club doesn't backdown when the truth has to be told and this is no exception.

That being said...if a shepherd can't lead a flock to greener pastures but can only find what is arid and musty, then that shepherd is nothing more than irrelevant.

  2. I am praying for the day to come when we will stop playing politics with our Executive and National Teams. I will die saying that our Executive should be about developing our sport so that all registered teams benefit and not just to ensure that one or two teams get the lion share of the trophies. Our national team should be the best 12 eligible persons regardless of where they come from. Each one might have a different problem to deal with e.g. behavior, personal challenges, funds (bus fare, adequate training attire, nutrition etc.) then it is up to the manager of the team to identify these inadequacies, deal with each one and present the coach with players that are conducive to rigorous training.

One of my shooters was also approached and told that if she wanted to make the national team she would have to leave Brydens. My under 21 players were told if they did not play for Sonia Knight team they will not make the under 21 team. So this foolishness has been happening for a long time. I remember when one of my players left Brydens her reason for leaving was that she wanted to make the national team so she went to Rangers and that was eons ago.

I will go on to say that the players themselves have brains of their own and should be able to think for themselves. Unless maybe they are afraid of being victimized as my team is constantly victimized because I am their coach and calls a spade a spade. Only last night before the pre-season meeting, Brian Holder told me that we had three people in the meeting and only two can stay so I got up and left. Two of us were past Board members who would have given of our time and energy to the sport. Where was Brian Holder when I would pull my pocketand stay up till all o'clock doing BNA work. I have never seen a netballer told to leave a meeting in all my years in netball. I would think that what should have been said is that only two can vote or comment on the discussions not to leave the meeting. Lord save my sport.
