This blog has been created with the intention of raising questions about the state of netball in Barbados. Any names mentioned will be of people who are involved in the sport and all situations will be real.

Time's up....but for who?
If ever there was a case to be made for the non-inclusion of whistle blowers in schools' netball, it is NOW!!!
It is sad when an individual entrusted to lead a national team doesn't know the rules of the very game of which they have been a part of all their life.
Any umpire knows that when a player has fallen and cannot be moved due to injury, the umpires use their discretion,i.e - an umpires' timeout until that player is guaranteed to be able to move on their own or if immobile...
In the game played on Thursday October 18th at the Lester Vaughan School ( LVS v Combermere) the above mentioned happened and much to the dismay of spectators, our very own national youth team coach DENIED an injured player her right, arguing that the allotted two minutes were up and the game needed to be restarted. What about the injured player? What about the compassion of the umpire or in this case, a teacher?
Are we to believe that the inadequacy to umpire and the lack of knowledge, re: the playing rules are okay with the school's committee and it is okay that anyone in charge of a team can officiate? What happens when the national team entrusted travels and similar situations occur? Is this individual going to rant at the umpires who will be officiating, holding to the thought process that the two minutes are up?
Right is right and wrong can never be right....when you work in a bakery....you should know flour...when you work with a sport....PLEASE know the rules!!!

FIND OUT WHY...REALLY???
Barbados' participation in next year's World Youth Netball championships seemed to have been blown offside with the apparent non-payment of funds prior to any of the deadlines set by IFNA. Based on this recent alleged revelation, this has placed Barbados at the BOTTOM of the countries on the waiting list.
If the above is true, what does this mean for the U-21 squad which has been in training since 2010 hoping to represent Barbados with the intention of improving on the disaster that was Cook Islands 2009? What does this do to the psyche of the best netballers on the island within the U-21 age group? What about the management who would've given limitless time, effort and energy to the squad?
It is public knowledge that the Australian U-21 netball team will be going to Jamaica next month for a tri-series in preparation for WYNC 2013 via Trinidad and Tobago. It is also public knowledge that they will compete against the senior national team as well as the U-21national netball team from Trinidad. What is NOT known is that an invitation was extended to Barbados and it was DECLINED by the BNA based on a frivolous excuse!!!! Find out what it is !!!!
With the top six netball countries preparing for the new Fast5 competition in New Zealand, it is also alleged that an invitation to this inaugural competition was extended to Barbados and again.....it was DECLINED!!! Truth or fiction?????
The Secretary of any organisation is usually the pulse that keeps the 'heart' ticking, so why is it that there has been an 'avalanche' of mail falling on the local association and the person or persons holding those positions on the present Board doesn't have a clue? Why is it that there seems an 'I DON'T KNOW!' answer ALL the time? Find out why that is !!!!!!!!!
In every set of playing cards, there is a QUEEN,a king,an ace and a JOKER. In 2010, the QUEEN got huffed for a JOKER....now look what has happened....

No more !!!!
Almost two years ago the then Vice President of the Barbados Netball Association rallied her support from the majority of clubs and was given or loaned the mandate of 'taking netball forward'. Now there's finally proof that 'WHAT SWEETENS GOAT MOUTH DOES BITE YA IN YA BAM BAM'!
According to reports, the head honcho has allegedly said that in the time frame given, there has been no support from the other board members with some not even on speaking terms. Really?
This loss of confidence has even filtered down into the U21 squad's preparation for next year's World Youth Championship scheduled to be held in Scotland. Really?
Isn't this the same team that was publicly stated at a meeting would've taken the place of the senior team to the recently held AFNA Championships? Hmmmm!!!
The entry fee for WNC 2013 has been paid and Barbados is one of twenty ( 20) countries slated to compete. However, the second installment of payment is due this month and that's where the plot thickens for the Board and the wait and see game it is playing, i.e - there's no money about so we have to wait and see what is going to happen. Really?
Is it a case of not having any money to meet the deadline and the team suffers or waiting on the outcome of the AGM( which is after the deadline) and the COUNTRY suffers? Think on it !
The two years given were more than enough to prove that this present Board has never seen past the night of their installation. Do we give them another two and watch the reputation and image of our country suffer or do we DO THE RIGHT THING and say NO MORE ?
